AI Recruiting Helps Uber Get New Drivers 30 Times Faster

About the company

Uber is the world's largest ride-hailing company founded in 2009. It operates in approximately 72 countries end entered the Ukrainian market in 2016. Today, there are around 3.9 million total Uber drivers around the world, and the company keeps searching for new candidates to scale up and deliver the highest level of customer service.

Uber partners with local companies to attract, pre-screen and sign up new drivers. Uber taxi, an authorized partner of Uber Ukraine, approached Eve.calls to make accurate hiring easier.

Problem

The company was struggling to expand its candidate pools, as this required a fair amount of time and put the HR department under considerable pressure.

One recruiter managed to contact about 300 drivers per day, and there was no guarantee that this work would result in finding a reasonable number of employees.

First, Uber taxi team was doubtful about using a voice robot as a recruiting tool, but a stream of positive feedback Eve.calls received in the market convinced the company they should at least give it a try.

Solution

We put together a short and well-structured conversation scenario, as this time our target audience would clearly prefer us to get straight to the point. 

So Eve was conveying a key message in a few well-chosen words and then asking if a person would like to partner with Uber on the terms proposed:

- Hi! This is Uber Taxi, a partner of Uber Ukraine. We’d like to offer you an opportunity for Uber daily payments with a 6% fee of the total fare. Are you interested? Please answer yes or no.

- Yes

- Ok, I'll send you a message with all the details.

Thus, Eve’s job was to create a large pool of potential driver-partners, so that the company’s managers would contact warm leads only.

Results

Eve proved to be a cost-effective and high-performing solution to optimize the recruiting workflow.

  • 300 candidates contacted in 15 minutes, while a manager needs a whole day
  • 25% of candidates applied for partnership

So now the company is actively leveraging the power of the AI-driven voice assistant throughout the recruitment process, which helps managers to target more fit candidates.
